Just thought that I would post up some pictures of the before and after shots of the restoration attempt on my Scotty.... All up it took me about 2 weeks to do... that included waiting around for the stickers/decals to be made up... as mentioned before in other posts, I have strayed away from the original colour and chosen a lighter greeny/blue hammertone finish... I have also added a decal to the side.... but i am still not sold on it yet... I may remove it....
I still have a leaking seal on the shaft... and I can't get the damned clutch cone off.... it's really giving me the s#%ts now, cos it's leaking oil all over my new paintwork.... arrrrrrrrgggggggggggh.............
to release the clutch cone you need to spray the join with crc etc, and using a crowbar or something force it between the gap between the engine and the clutch cone.
My clutch cone was stuck to the engine so i hit it with a hammer and a piece of wood, and jimmyed it off with an adjustable wrench as a lever.
You could also take the clutch cone apart so that you can spray the inside of it with crc to loosen it up, but you'd have to remove the chain cover and the chains etc.
just be careful either way, because you will have to remove the engine to get the clucth cone off fully.
the mower looks really sweet done up too, ive just finished resotring mine, and wil post pics of it later this week
Hi adb, mate, what a difference..great job.... on your handle bar decal, looks like a bought one!! BTW, the original on the chain case cover was black and white.
