nothing wrong with that price, you are buying a full crank victa with new blades, and must be in sreasonable running condition.

Yeah I have seen a side start full crank tilt-a-cut which puts it around the 81-83 vintage around the $50 mark on flea bay which they say is hard to start. The machine is local to me. I am tempted to have a look if the compression is good I will go for it. As to utilities I would not mind getting a few full crank victa's. What were the full crank's rep like as industrial engine.

If they are hard to start I have found 9 times out of 10 is just dirt in the carb, if not a set of rings is really cheap and will add significant life to it yet.

As for industrial purposes, I would use a full crank victa over a powertorque anyday.

I would estimate that a series 80 full crank with an G4/LM carbie and electronic ignition would be around the 4/4.5 hp mark but that is only rough estimation

Hi all,
I had a victa utility exactly the same as the one above and I really regret selling it! It would cut 4 foot high grass with ease. Those full crank engines were so powerful, and I would rebuild one of those any day than buy the new junk.
As for starting I use to leave it out in the rain for 6 months with the same petrol, go up to it pull a foot of rope out and it would roar into life! i cant see why everyone raves about Hondas, because these victas and most Briggs are capable of starting just as easily!

Thats why when I brought new I went for a hru197 was partly because Victa's are now rubbish. Even the early powertorques are a much better engine than what they are now.

Hi Jay, owning both a Honda (G100) and a full crank Victa, which are both very reliable, all I can say is, if the engine is maintained and serviced correctly, it should start easily. But unfortunately some people don't (or won't) service their machines until they break down or won't start. cry
As for Hondas, just ask a contractor what engine he uses on his mowers...... wink

Well guys I ended up getting the tilt-a-cut for $89 In surprisingly good cosmetic condition It still has its 2 year engine warranty and super start stickers on the cowl but as other people have posted the LM carbie is going to need a bit of work on it which is probably going to happen this Sunday arvo. One thing I would not mind getting my hands onto is the infamous BP Zoom sticker and the tilt-a-cut sticker on the fuel tank.
