Hi there,

I am a complete noob when it comes to Scotty's. I have just purchased this Scotty, but i have no idea what model it is! It has a Briggs and Stratton 3HP engine, the cutting blades are 17inch in width. the model number is 64608. The model type code (stamped on engine) is 80202 0572 047810110. Any thoughts would be great, cos i got no idea. the previous owner thought it was a model 45, but i'm not too sure, neither was he.

Also, i noticed that this belt keeps slipping off the pulley, and it's in terrible condition. Anyone know what it is called? is there a way to increase the tension in that pulley with the spring attached, so the belt dosen't slip off?

cheers

alex

Hi Alex, and a big warm welcome to the forum, it's great to have you aboard! yay
If you check out the thread "Victa Imperial Identification" in this topic, you will see that your Scotty could be a composite machine made in New Zealand by Morrison mowers that was badge- engineered as Scott Bonnar.

For identification, the Model 45 Scotty is the machine in my avatar, and you can also have a look at if you wish, at the thread "Scott Bonnar Model 45 Restored" in the "Old Mower Pics" topic on this forum.

Bruce has uploaded a parts list and manual for the "Imperial" in the Parts and Manuals area which you can access after subscription.
To subscribe, click on "My Stuff" on the top tool-bar, scroll down to subscriptions and follow the instructions.
You may need this manual to help sort your slipping belt problem.
PS..My thoughts are that the V-belt may need replacing! wink

Hi Deejay,

Yes the appearances are very similar indeed..... mine is exactly like your second and fourth photo! so they are pictures of scotty's... right?

as for the belt... i went to my local rover dealer and he sold me an A36 Vee Belt.... but it is a little too big... so i have ordered the A35 Vee Belt...

The spring has completely lost its tension... which i think is causing the belt to come off the pulley and become shredded.. i have searched far and wide for a new spring... but cannot seem to find any!

I love mowing lawns with this! now all i need is a bigger back lawn!!

Hi Alex, I have just spoken to a chap today from Rover Australia, and he confirms that the Victa Imperial was manufactured in New Zealand by Morrison Mowers, imported into Australia by Masport for Rover-Scott Bonnar and badged as a 690 Series Scott Bonnar....Please see the pics below;

Hey Alex, for what it's worth the build date for your Briggs is October 1978. I've got an older 80202 on a Webb brand mower I've been fixing up which has the exact same set up to the drive belts (see posts in this forum RE Webb). Just don't get started on engine colours....heheh.

Seasons Greetings,

Craig
