Hi Folks, I have been given the job by a friend, of servicing a Victa SPX2342 Ride On Mower and the first thing I need is a Deck Belt.
It has a Briggs & Stratton Professional V Twin Engine with these specs on it:- Model Year 2013, Engine Family - DBSXS.7242VA - 724cc ECS: EM 381409
It's a 42" Deck and I'm getting conflicting advice for a local Mower shop and Google.
The Old Deck Belt that I took off is:- 3080mm and that equates to 121.26". The Older Deck Belt that was hanging on the wall, also warn out is:- 3085mm and that equates to 121.5".
The way I measured these belts was to mark the widest part of the belt and using the wifes Sewing Tape Measure I measured out in Metres, added a mark and continued to return to my 1st mark.
The local mower shop is saying they have no listing for this belt, so I'm asking here for help..
Here's what Google Tells me:-
Victa SPX 2342
AI Overview
Based on the search results, the Victa SPX2342 lawn tractor (42-inch cut) requires specific belts depending on whether you are replacing the Transmission/Drive Belt (Engine to Transmission) or the Cutter Deck Belt (Blades).
1. Transmission Drive Belt (Engine to Transmission) • Replaces OEM Part Numbers: 1737441, 1737441YP, or sometimes listed under generic AYP/Husqvarna numbers for these models. • Size: 1/2" x 88-3/8" (approx. 12.7mm x 2245mm). • Fits: SPX2342, V125, 23/42, and other 42" Victa/Simplicity models.
2. Cutter Deck Belt (42" Cut) • Replaces OEM Part Numbers: 1757811YP, 1732956SM, or 1761268YP (depending on specific deck construction, specifically for fabricated decks). • Size: Approximately 1/2" x 124.4" (or 118" OD depending on specific deck). • Fits: 42" fabricated decks on SPX2342 models.
Recommendation: For the SPX2342, the most accurate replacements are usually sourced using the Briggs & Stratton part numbers, such as 1737441YP for the transmission belt.
Hi Steve, First question is it a "B" section belt, if so eithere of the old bel sizes will be fine you are only talking half an inch difference in the length. If it is not a "B" section belt you are going to have to do a bit of guesswork
Thanks once again Bruce, for you great work helping me out here.. I didn't know that Part number (2691235-00) until today when I went back out there and triple checked all over the mower to see about any other numbers were on it.
I can't believe that Victa has One Parts Manual for the Briggs Engine & drive Belt, One Parts Manual for the mower and a third Parts Manual for the Deck.
But at a local mower shop today they couldn't find any pictures or part numbers for the Deck Belt or the Deck Belt Layout Diagram or even the pulleys on the deck. Except for the spindle pulleys.

Hi Steve,

Bruce

Hi Bruce, I went back to my local Mower Shop today with more information on this Victa SPX2342 Rideon and even with the extra information they couldn't help me out. They have suggested that I email Power Lawncare Products (who now owns Victa) and provide all the details on the mower and it's deck, included pictures and ask for Belt Part Numbers and Belt Route Diagrams to suit my deck. So I have asked for an email address in a message on their Victa Facebook Page.
The Extra Information I found, along with your help is this:-
Victa Model Number:- 2691235-00 - which you provided the parts manual for, thanks again. Serial Number:- 2016795203 DOM:- 14/05/2023
It's a Pressed Deck and not a Fabricated Deck
That Manuals Front Cover gave me 3 - 42" deck parts numbers:-
1696407 169640700 1696541-00
The deck picture in that parts manual is not the same as the deck on this mower. My deck has 2 x spindles and 3 pulleys close together at the read of the deck. The left side pulley is the flat belt spring loaded tensioner, the right side pulley is a flat belt idler pulley and the smaller rear pulley is the v belt drive pulley. I hope that makes sense. I have a deck picture but don't have anywhere to upload it so I can post it here.
Remembering the old worn belts are 3080mm OD, that I measured.
I'm getting conflicting information again using these deck numbers as a reference:-
1758984YP = 124.4" x 1/2" 1757811YP = 94-96" x 1/2" and at another supplier = 3111.5mm
Any further help or ideas you or any members have will be greatly appreciated..
I'm doping my best to help out a neighbour with their ride on mower.
