Hi Steve, I have no idea but what pulleys do you have on the deck belts are they "A" section or "B" section I get angry when I see "A" section belts on the cutter deck. They fit "B" section on the cutter deck for a reason Maybe that is the reason for the discrepancy in the lengths. On a mates Greenfied when I changed the belt from "A" to "B" it had to be 100mm longer. Doesn't make sense that your cutter belt would be 100mm shorter
I'd probably need engine Hp ,year of mower and the deck cutting width to look up specs.
V-belts are measured based on their length, which can be represented in two ways:
Inside Length (C): This is the measurement of the belt along the inner surface, which is the distance between the two grooves of the pulley. This measurement is typically used for belts that operate over a fixed pulley distance.
Outside Length (L): This is the length measured around the outer surface of the belt. This length can be relevant when the belt is in motion and the outer edges are in contact with the pulleys.
When purchasing or specifying belts, it is important to check the manufacturer's documentation or standard specifications to determine which measurement is being used, as different manufacturers may provide lengths in one form or the other. Always ensure you have the correct measurement based on your specific application to avoid fitting issues.
The last image is inside of the V belt length. When I look up V belt sizes I need engine Hp ,year of mower and the deck cutting width to find the correct specs.
I looked up the first part number Drive Belt - 532140294 that you had listed and is (1/2" x 82") so is not close to the 87.5" that you have.
A manual I found has the part number 532161850 V-Belt, Drive and it's Belt Size (Outside dimension): width - 1/2", Length - 85". A83K 4LK850 which is closer to your 87.5 inch.
It is possible for a V-belt that measures 87.5 inches when it is off the machine to measure around 85 inches when it is installed and tensioned. The difference in length can be attributed to several factors:
Tension: When the belt is installed, it is stretched to fit snugly around the pulleys. This tension typically reduces the effective length of the belt by a small amount.
Belt Compression: The interaction between the belt and the pulleys can cause some compression, which can also lead to a decreased measured length when the belt is under tension.
When a V-belt is under tension, it typically becomes a slightly shorter length compared to when it is relaxed or uninstalled.
I'm not sure how you've measured the belt but you could install it and check the difference in length if it's been measured out of the mower with no tension on the V belt.
On the Deck V belt I get 88 inches which is close to your 87.5 inch length.
Someone may have used a slightly shorter belt on the Deck Belt than they should have .
The manual that I found has 95 in the lower corner so I assume 1995 and hope that is the same for your 1989 mower as the other specs were the same.
Hi NormK, can you please tell me what happens or what you see when you click on the Image links I posted, that are stored in the Google Photos Links above?
I have little to no idea where I can upload photos that I can share on this Forum or any other Forums.
If you have any ideas I'm happy to check them out.
Hi Steve, bit hard to see but they do look like "A" section pulleys. The way to check is to wrap the old belt on one of the pulleys and see how far the belt sits down in the "V" The correct belt should sit close to flush with the outside edges of the pulley
OK NormK, I have added a couple of photos showing the Deck Belt & the Drive Belt sitting in their respective pulleys.
If what you said about where they should sit on the pulleys, both are wrong? In the past 10 years since getting this rideon as a trade in from a Husqvarna Dealer in Sydney, both sets of belts have been wrong. I have only replaced the belts since owning it once. I have all 4 belts here.
Hi guys, I'm not sure if this helps out or not but..
I took all the belts I have from my rideon (old & current) to my local Bursons Parts Store. Using their Dayco Belt Tool, here are their measurements, as outside belt lengths.
Current Drive Belt = 10A x 2110mm Current Deck Belt = 10A x 2240mm
Old Deck & Drive Belts = are both the same at = 10A x 2240mm
I was hoping your first post at the top of the page, the part numbers may of been correct but that would be. Drive Belt - 532140294 that you had listed and is (1/2" x 82") and your current measurement is 2210mm is approximately 83.07 inches.but the old belt you say is 2240 mm which is 88.19 inches
Deck Belt - 532144959 at top of page is 95 inch V belt and you have 2240 mm for that which is 88.19 inches.
All the Husqvarna belts I look up are half inch wide .
I can't find any manuals or specs online for a 1989 Husqvarna ride on, the closest I found is 1995 and those belts are not listed for fitting earlier models so I wouldn't go on that manual for part numbers for the V belts.
The only part numbers I found online that had the same length belts for the drive belt and cutter deck belt were the Husqvarna 954140005K 88 inches drive belt Husqvarna954140005F deck belt 88 inches deck belt
Some sellers online said if you cant find your model numbers for the mower on their description of the V belts you should email them all the mowers details and they will look up the correct part numbers.
Maybe someone else will have the correct manual for part numbers here.
Hi Maxwestern, I think the Date I have posted is maybe the Briggs Engine date.. From memory (a long time ago), I did a search on the Engine Number and I'm now thinking that 1989 may be the Engine Build Date and not the Mower.
The Parts Manual you have linked to and the one I downloaded 10 years ago is the LTH130 - HALTH130C Model. Mine states it's the LTH130 HALTH130B. Both list the same Product Number stamped on my mower - 954 11 00-61 and as far as I can see and for the parts I have replaced, they are both the same..
One photo shows the belt in the Deck pulley and the other shows the belt in the drive pulley. Maybe you have to refresh the browser window as you have been there before.
