I picked up one of these this morning because I was after the gearbox for a 360 I have here. It looked pretty bad with 4 flat tyres and locked in gear and it had been sitting in the weather for some time. Carby was full of water, so I had another carby and manifold so I put that on and it fired up fairly easily. Once I had freed up the gear selector I started having a bit of a look around it. I pumped up the tyres and then I started thinking it was probably too good to wreck for the gearbox because I believe with gearbox and engine oil changed this could be put back to service tomorrow without any problems. Only thing is it looks a bit rough paint wise but apart from that it would have years of service left in it. Now it is a case of what to do with it, I never expected it would run, let alone be capable of mowing lawns again after an afternoon working on it

Also with this one I am getting 24.5 volts A/C out of the stator which is good. It has no rec/reg fitted and it has a 2 wire stator, red and black wires. I will plug a rec/reg in and see what happens and if I have to cut the black wire off, black being the A/C side and without checking I assume the red wire has the diode fitted.

I've seen them both ways Norm on different motors and seen manuals that say typically the Red Wire,: this is usually the AC power output for the lights. It provides the unregulated AC voltage directly to the lighting system or any other AC accessory.
So itβs important to note that while this is the common wiring practice, you should always refer to the specific service manual for your engine model to confirm the correct wiring configuration, as variations may exist based on the particular application or model year.
:Or do some testing
Voltage Testing:
If you have a multimeter: Start the engine and measure the voltage output directly from each wire on the stator (AC voltage). The wire that provides a consistent AC voltage (typically more than 12V AC) under load is the output for lighting, while the other wire is the input to the rectifier/regulator.
Cheers Max.

Braking on rideons back then was not of huge importance and what they did was very primitive. Frustrating when that pulley setup is missing because they are very unique to these Deutschers and without it mower is scrap. Terry Scanlon would have pulleys I'm sure
