Hi all,

Picked up an ECHO SRM-200DA a couple weeks back. Not sure if it runs but it does turn over. Anyone know much about them? Made in Japan which I hear is a good thing. From what I've read this is a pretty old trimmer, no? I also noticed there's no primer bulb on it *shrug*, so doesn't come with a primer ??

Will have to give it a shot soon, fuel mix is 32:1.

Anything I should know about these things? Trimmer is quite small, think manual says 21cc

G'day Widget,

Yes the ECHO SRM-200DA is old as it still has ignition points under the flywheel.

They seem to start easily enough ,I got a couple of old Echo trimmers going about a month ago ,when they haven't run for
ages I put some two stroke in a WD 40 squeeze bottle and remove the air filter and spray fuel into the carby to get the
trimmer to start and run then hopefully after a while the carby will prime with fuel and run off the carby.

That's all I had to do to get them running besides giving them a clean with compressed air.

You may have to clean and adjust the points but on my old trimmers I usually try a Victa module.

Cheers
Max.

Thanks max.

I didn't have a spray bottle, might have dig up an old spray'n'wipe bottle, but until then, I put a couple of drops into the carb via the intake, couple of pulls and it ran for a second, which is good, though couldn't start without assistance. Might have to grab a spray bottle and keep spraying fuel to see if that helps.
I'm tempted to strip down and thoroughly clean, but feel I'd have bad-luck when putting it back together lol.
I'm not sure on the specific carburetor type/model, but the manual I do have says "Walbro diaphragm type WA", which I'm assuming it would be this carb kit? Walbro WA WT carb kit
Also, would be nice to replace the fuel lines, though I've never had much luck with the yellow transparent lines you can get. They've always become soft swollen and break away easily. Is there a different type you can get, preferably the black style ?

Hi Widget

The black fuel hoses can be found on eBay in a 1 meter length from Carby Doctor.

You can dismantle the carby and check the carby kit is the same by the images on eBay.

I had to keep spraying fuel into the carby to keep the engine running while the carby
Primed itself and then ran off the carby.

Cheers
Max.
