Following some "enthusiastic" mowing by our eldest over rough ground and hitting a stump, the deck on our Fastcut 34 has cracked just in front of the spindle and the cutter plate is in bad shape. I'll replace both.
I can see non-genuine alloy decks and a steel deck are available. About $630 vs $900 plus delivery. The mower is used on a bush block so small stones and sticks are common, even after raking. In this environment, is the extra for the steel deck worth it?
Also, more than happy to buy a used deck if anyone knows of one.
I would not buy at those prices before getting a few prices from mower shops as they can buy the same part at trade prices and sometimes sell at half other peoples prices.
This deck looks so basic I would be going to a sheet metal fabricator and asking what it would cost to weld one up from sheet metal.or make one yourself.
Not sure if the Outdoorking shop sells these parts but shopping around you do see parts at half other peoples prices.
Hi Max, as long as you had the old deck so you can take measurements off it it would not be too difficult to manufacture a new deck out of 3mm plate. At least then if it got damaged you can just beat it out straight again
