My electric mower died at the weekend and I remembered there was an old push lawnmower in the shed. It wouldn't cut properly and I didn't have a clue how to set it up properly. A lot of poking around on the internet and I found this wonderful forum and eventually found a picture of my lawn mower which is how I now know its a Wimbledon. And then I found that if I signed up and paid up I could download a pdf of the manual. Absolute gold. A bit of experimentation and now I can cut my lawn. Best $6 US investment I've made in a long while. The machine still needs a bit of love and attention and I need to find a replacement wing nut assembly for the roller height adjustment (someone bodged one side in the past) .. (any tips where to find one gratefully received). I highly recommend the thread on the Pope Wimbledon and no doubt the lawnmower is pretty happy to be seeing some grass again instead of spiders.

Hello Jawalawn
A warm welcome from me to these great forums.

That's a great story you tell and it's nice to hear that
another Wimbledon survives.

These were great post-war pushies that embraced the
new technologies - steel frame, tubular handles, rubber tyres
and handle grips, alloy wheels and pinions. Brilliant!

Maybe a photo of your machine for provenance?

Cheers

SENIOR TECHNICIAN & HISTORIAN
G'day Jawalawn and Jack

With finding a replacement wing nut assembly for the roller height adjustment , I'm not sure where you
would find that as a spare part unless buying another Pope mower , It's a 1/4 inch UNC thread so you
could just buy a standard wing nut and a brass 1/4 inch Olive and possibly file one side of the olive flat
where the wing nut pushes against the olive.

Cheers
Max.
