Good evening all.

So I've had a search and not been able to find any concrete info.

What type of rattle can spray paint do people use on their decks? Specifically alloy decks as I have a honda and rover deck that could do with a lick of paint.

I've read 2 pack paibt should do the job but tbh I get confused between acrylic, enamel and epoxy let alone the jargon they put on the can which is rarely clear as to what type of paint it actually is...

I'm not looking for a show room resto but fixing it up a little would be nice.

hello Lockstock, I use Rustolium epoxy, main reason is the end product doesn't ment when petrol spilt on it. Maybe other epoxys work that way.

Is an etch primer required too? Do you use a clear top coat or not required?

Hi. Etch primer required for exposed aluminium. Clear coat is optional. I think NormK mentioned he likes to use it on his repainted bases to give that extra pop.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

It says on Rustolium can, no need to undercoat. Have a look at local Bunnings. I like Boston products, Black Zink, Bright Gal.
Would petrol disolve the clear?

Hi all,

I've used a lot of high temp engine enamel to paint bases , it won't wash off with fuel spills.

Yeah the cheap spary cans from supercheap seem to be well and truly allergic to petrol spills and this is why I would like a consensus on appropriate paints.

I don't want to spend $20 per can on paint that will deteriorate at the sniff onlf an oily rag

Has anyone had older decks powder coated? This is what I was thinking about for my show piece mowers.

Powder coating can trap moisture and then lift in chunks, if there's a breach.
I'm trying Dulux epoxy metal care paint on the Vortex.
Just had it colour matched to the original olive brown as best as possible by taking the mower base in. Out turned out a tiny bit lighter than the original but they seem to have done a good job coming close and the paint man said it will darken a bit as it cures.

Thanks MF, I won't be doing powder coating then. I will go with the method you have suggested!
