Hello ODK collectors

I recognised the subject matter of this printing block immediately
when I first saw it on an auction site in 2020. I wanted it because …
there was a story behind it!

The block depicted the Atom Mofast range of mowers from the
mid-to-late 1950s. I also knew the block was not intended for
newspaper advertising as such.

It depicts a layout I recognised from a Mofast Motor Mowers
Operational, Maintenance and Spare Parts Manual that I had
written about and presented on these forums some years’ ago
[see Related Reading].



The heavy block measures about 20cm x 10cm and it was the exact size
match for the manual from my collection. So, my best guess is that
this block was used for the manual’s production and it was owned
by the Atom Distributing Company of Burwood Road, Burwood, Victoria.

The Gallery depicts reversed images so the text may be
read correctly (not in the negative). I also include an image
of the page as presented in print.

That’s a nice piece to have all right, the larger Mofast are pretty rare. I am yet to see a 20” model.

Yeah, it was a real surprise find.
Both of us, then, have never seen a 20" Giant model.

I wonder if any survive?

Yep , the Atom Mofast printing block was a great buy Jack.


That doesn't make three of us ,I collected some images a few years ago.
