Hello ODK history lovers A small AUS lawnmower had always perplexed me...
I could find nothing about it! It was the small Mi-T-Mow rotary. A simple 15” machine with an alloy ‘toe cutter’ base,
it always presented as a 1950s lawnmower. And so it was …
It was only in recent times that I could identify who made it. It’s a rare Australian rotary lawnmower. The Mi-T-Mow was made by Malvin Engineering of 74 Thistlethwaite Street, South- Melbourne.
The 'other' Malvin mower has been discussed on these forums [see Related Reading].
The Mi-T-Mow appears to have been powered at times by two engines: A Villiers and a Trojan, and it appears it sold for just a couple of years – from about 1957 to 1958. I note that evidence suggests an Australian Simplex engine may have also been used.
