Hi Everyone,
I'm trying to fix a friend's 11hp 28" Anniversary model. The idler sprocket bushing was completely shot and the drive sprocket was in very poor condition. I have sourced a replacement drive sprocket (GT7012) but have been advised to use a bearing in place of the sprocket (GT7976) to tension the new chain (GT500). I'm wondering if this is a good idea and how I should go about it. Does anybody know what size bearing to use? Should the width of the bearing be greater than the width of the chain outer plates or thinner so that the bearing only contacts the rollers on the chain? All help much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Hi bravo,
Welcome here and we try to help.
The bearing fix is the way to go, use 2 small bearings that you can bolt onto the arm, can't remember but probably use a 10mm bolt to secure them to the arm. This is not really an idler sprocket it is the chain adjuster

Cheers Norm, sounds easy enough, I'll give it a crack. Thank you.
