Hi All.

My deceased dad have left me with rancher 1766. So I took it for a ride the other day, and found that the drive selector would stay in the particular gear. When I investigated, it was found that the spring was only half there. So my question to all is there a place where we can buy parts or these older ride on's, or will I have to attempt to produce one.

Cheers
Robert

G'day RMB,
As you say you now have the parts list for this machine, is the spring you're referring to the Gear Lever Return Spring, P/No A12113?
This one is Part 59 in the Chassis section of the IPL.

Cheers,
Gadge

Thanks Gadge.

Had found the spring in the parts list, but there a place out there that still sells parts for these old units, such as this spring.

G'day RMB,

It looks like that part has gone obsolete, as I can't find any online parts supplier who lists it. A faint hope would be that it was superseded by a later part number - the ODK Shop should be able to advise on that.

I guess at least you have part of the original spring, which will give you the wire diameter to use if you try making one up - 'music wire' is the stuff to use. It's available in ~1m lengths, from hobby suppliers; e.g. this mob seem to stock a good range of diameters - https://www.smallparts.com.au/store/partslist/wiresteelspringmusicwireshortlengths/

And the IPL does show the general shape of the spring quite well.

A Google for 'making springs from music wire' finds a lot of how-to info and vids.

Cheers,
Gadge

Thanks again.
Have been thinking. If anyone has one they can take a pic, top and side view, I can then adjust pic to the size of the piece I have left. So then I would have an exact size. So will wait and see if someone does, have ordered the wire.

Cheers

Robert
