I have two old and kind of clapped out Power Torque Engines, and I want to restore them, to run almost constantly at a "fastish idle".
I figure that because they are running SLOW, that a couple of self designed fixed jet and choke carbs would be the order of the day - much like the old single cylinder shearing stand engines.
I also figure that since they are going to be running really slow, and kind of cool, that the premixed oil won't be spraying in one hole and out the other, and they should be running fairly cool - so that the oil should be able to be reduced down to 1 part oil in 50 parts of fuel - especially if the exhaust port is pointing upwards.
I am also willing to have a poke and designing a simple tuned length exhaust pipe - with a simple variable back pressure butterfly and then cutting the pipe down to length in small steps, and varying the back pressure - and measuring the torque - and when the torque rises and appears to peak for the chosen load... well that is probably settled.
The next question is measuring the internals for excessive wear - while one engine seems fair, the other has no compression at all...
After these are measured, the thing I'd like to find out is who has the bits to reload at least 2 engines with a set of new internals - such as pistons, rings, bearings and crank pins (if necessary)
Any offers or leads anyone?
