Hi all
Came across this mower the other day and thought, that's a bit different and maybe not all that common. It's the mower i went to collect from the same fellow I purchased the SB 14 twin rail from. My thoughts were this is a mower transported from overseas when the owner re located to this lovely Island ( but why would you bother ). The original owners son whom I got the one owner SB from is quite certain that this mower was purchased from the same mower shop as the SB a few years apart in Perth. It's quite compact, well very compact, 12 inch cut and the motor works great. I wouldn't think it is suitable for block slashing but if I wanted to get into that it would be ideal if I wanted to start off small !

Cheers
wce

Hello wce
This is the second one of these i have seen here.
Many thanks for adding to the Record!

I do have evidence that B&D were selling garden products in OZ in the
1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. My best guess is that the Lawnderette
did sell here.

I have recorded this one.
The gallery (below) shows a Black & Decker Lawnrazor

I have got more work to do on Black and Decker.

Many thanks

G'day again wce

I did find one scrap of evidence that the Lawnderette did sell here.
This helps date the machine to c1975 - meaning they sold alongside
the Lawnrazor (shown above).

Good morning Jack

Thanks for the information, the person I got it from recalls seeing the original paper work for the machine, I left my details with him in case he discovers it. Great ad, ideal for confined areas ! spot on and the only way it could be advertised.

Hi all,
The Black & Decker Lawnrazor brings back old memories ,I still have one that's been unplugged since the eighties.

I was looking at Black & Decker Patents a while ago and saw this one.

Cheers
Max.

G'day Max, wce and Norm
Yes, Norm, a niche market for sure back then... How times have changed!

Yes, wce, and I can't help but think that B&D helped change the public perception
of the domestic lawnmower - from a garden machine to a household appliance.

In any case it was a harbinger of things to come ... smaller plots and tiny lawns.
Even Victa engaged in the cheap, small lawnmower market
when they marketed the Victa-Qualcasts[/b in the mid-1980s].

[b]Max
, many thanks for the patent info. These machines are collectable - and rare here.
I guess most would have been sent to the tip.

Cheers
