I put the piston back on the same way it came off, not too sure which side the ring gaps were. There were notches in the slots for the rings so they could only be put in one position.

Will try and at least get the flywheel and the igintion assembly off tomorrow night. I'll try what you say to check the condition of the top seal.

What's the best way to get the flywheel off, I've tried but can't stop the engine from spinning when I try to undo the nut on top?
