If you go to the local scrap metal yard they might sell you a whole mower you could take the motor off for not much more than the scrap steel price!Cheers Joe.
Hi alwayscurious, this is the course of action I would suggest also, plus the fact you may be lucky enough to get a motor in reasonable condition, that you could tinker with and get running sweetly, at a lot less than $250.00
