Evening all
Had a good look through the black friday sales and cyber monday sales - mostly a WOFT. The only thing of note is 30% off penrite grease, and all fuel and engine additives which isn't bad.
However, the new repco catalogue was delivered today - not a great deal of specials either
From wednesday 2/12/20 they have Nulon 15w40 mineral oil 5L for $10. Limit 3 per customer (when autobarn have same offer its max 2).
For those who I haven't already bored with my oil comparison, Nulon is API SL, chock full of ZDDP zinc, good TBN (to cancel the sulfuric byproducts of 'blowby' gases) and has a very good shear resistance. It rivals SAE30 for use in briggs in my opinion; though you may use a tiny bit in temps 35 and above.
I have at least 8 bottles of this since I always stock up when I see it - good oil.
I would HIGHLY suggest doing a click and collect order on it as the deal comes live (midnight 2/12/20 AEDT) or at least before the stores open. Demand will severely outstrip supply. Autobarn have stock issues doing 2 bottles per person let alone 3.
For those of you who cannot get the nulon, Autobarn have gulf western 15w40 at $9.99 (2 per person) in store only. Note, this is a new formulation from GW with API SN which means lower ZDDP, and the TBN isn't as preferable either. I would comfortably use this one as flushing oil, or in a smoky old engine that is buggered anyway.
Most likely, it would do no harm to briggs either (since we know old ones will run on 200ml of tar for years)
Finally, if you must have SAE30, they have 30% off all motorbike and small engine oils. You'll get 5l of Penrite 30w for $30, or 5l of Repco 30w for $28.
Also if you are tempted to get the $11 penrite greenskeeper 2 st oil, just trump (haha) up the extra $2.33 and get the penrite MC-2st Semisynth. Very good oil for the price.
