Found near the Eric Anderson mower (I don't think the catcher belongs to the Eric Anderson)

It's a wholly intact, almost rust-free (surface rust only), almost undamaged, workable metal catcher. the metal screens are intact. Even both handles move and appear undamaged. You could basically hook it straight onto the designed machine and catch!

Unfortunately there's no name on it (I did look several times). Anyone know what it is?

I think it may be from a Pope, it looks just like the one on this pope and it is a usual Pope orange color.

Hi Kye,

thanks for the reply. And I think you may be right.

My memory said that it was a Pope parked next to the catcher at the time, but I wasn't sure so didn't pipe up at the time.

The catcher is very similar, but I think the top handle is different and there are also vents on the top of mine- maybe it's just a slightly newer- or older- version.

Not sure what I might do with it, maybe hand it on. I would like to clean and paint it but getting into all those small screen holes properly is likely to be difficult.

Thought it was worth the rescue, might complete someone's restoration.

Cheers,

Why not head back and collect the pope too?
You must have a pretty good tip. We just have transfer stations with either half crank victas or Briggs

Hi all

Yep, Kye is, again, spot-on. A Pope catcher in good condition

Unfortunately it (the mower) was gone when I went back. For some unknown reason they left the catcher behind. Also, there's only so much I can fit in a Mazda 3 boot!

Thanks Jack and Kye for the info. Any suggestions as to what to do with it? Get a Pope mower is not an option, at least currently!

Hi Patrick and Kye

The first thing I note is that the catcher is in great condition.

What would I do with it?
I'd wait and match it with the last Pope model ... my favourite of the
rear-catcher models ... And the most illusive ... the 82-203.
In my opinion, the most beautiful of all Pope rear-catcher mowers.
Who remembers them?

ODK member Geoff N has one of those 82-203's, pictured in THIS past thread.

Sort of the 'Sports Model Pope', with that streamlined cowling...

That 82-203 sure does look like a muscle car spin on a mower I've never seen anything like it. Looks like it just needs GTS written on the side.
Pitrack as for fitting stuff in a Mazda 3, you may need to have a chat with Kye and his tying lawn mowers to the roof.

All you need is a couple straps slash! or some rope if you don't have that.

Greetings,
Looooooong shot here. Do you still have the catcher? And would you be interested in selling it?
I just picked up a Pope Model 82-185 in really good condition, (Cant even find a picture of this Model) but i think that Catcher will fit.
TIA, Steve.

Hi Steve,

sorry for the Looooooong delay in replying to your "Looooooong shot"!

Yes I still have it and am happy to pass it on to someone who'll do something more useful with it.

Note I'm located in Canberra so not sure what's the best way to move it, I suspect shipping may be expensive. I do drive to Sydney approx once a month so could drop it off there on on the way.

PM may go directly to my email inbox I think.

I haven't logged in for a while either as it's likely I'll have to put these projects on the backburner for a while. And after the yahoo login debacle I didn't check my email for a Looooooong while grin.

Cheers to all,
(and I will check my email periodically now wink )

Patrick.
(and thanks Jack for the heads-up! good1)

P.S. If Steve doesn't get back to me anyone else can feel free to register interest too. I'd prefer to see this rescued and used rather than sitting in the back of my shed.

Patrick
