Victa 18 S4 candidate - S/N 119754

Hi all,

Here's the second one I pulled out. I'd appreciate any further info on this mower- version, modifications, salvageability, worth, etc.

S/No:
upper half 119754
lower half 2

Second one I pulled out. In the spirit of 'do no harm', I cleaned as minimally as possible, and then only with warm water and fingers.

Immediately felt more solid than the first one- handle firm and wheels smooth and not wobbly. Has all the little hub caps, too.

Base flywheel rusted but both blades there.

The motor is free- I pulled it through one compression I think. Typical resistance.

Oh, and I heard rumours of asbestos in the exhaust system... nothing apparent here I think. Fibres on top of flywheel are bits of grass I think.

Here are the photos below.

Hey Patrick,

This mower, like the other one is effectively a bitsa also.

And also like the other one,the base components are correct.

This in my opinion was almost certainly an Automatic at release.

It retains the bare components which identify it as such

Model 4 base
Correct engine serial range of 119,000
Grove cover and bolts
Ungrooved height adjust
Skirt bolts
And The Auto plaque.

Cowl assy is M5 S3
Starter is M5 S1/3
Tank is Milperra, so Could be any of the 4/5 series
Tap is late gen Victa
filter is 60/70 series?

And a few other minor discrepencies.

Again, with a few basic parts, Starter, cowl, fuel tap this could also be returned back to its original form (less of course the Predicta set up).

This is a very important part of Victa history as it highlights the failure of the Auto, and what it became as a result....A basic Mower.

They are still rare in this form, and very worthy restoration contenders for collections, as the Real deal is beyond reach for but a few collectors.

I hope you can bring it back to its former Glory...:)

Any more info you need on the way, please dont hesitate to add to this thread, as there is a wealth of info which has been submitted by a few knowledgable members.

Cyber Jack will be able to offer accurate historical, and some technical information also.

Enjoy smile

Thanks once again ht6,

I'll pass this info on to the owner as well.

Again this mower will probably have had newer bits used to keep it running given the owner preferred this to newer mowers.

Good to hear it's the model I thought it was and that the main components match and are intact.

The newness of the plastic fuel tap had not escaped even my attention!
Given what was posted elsewhere on this site I had begun to suspect this was originally a model 4 'standard' as opposed to 'predicta'.

I'll post any more questions on it here.

Many thanks again,

Patrick
