Hello I believe these are Australian Decksons, made by John Deck and ... sons. There are a couple on offer on eBay HERE.There is a restored one on YouTube HERE. I guess it was made to an American design HERE. Hopefully a member will be able to supply more info. Hope this helps.---------------------------- JACK.

Would love to see some photos of the drive system. Is that lever forward/reverse and neutral or is there a clutch system?

Hello Aussietrev
I think that is the same gearbox as the early Rover Colts used - meaning there must be a simple belt clutch and pedal (R.H. side).
An interesting little machine. ---------------------------------------- JACK.

Hello sj66
The engine code for your machine reveals it was built on 30 November, 1981.
I guess this would make your machine a 1982 model. Deckson started lawnmower production in the mid 1960s and they also made walk-behind rotary lawnmowers. They are often remembered for the mini-bikes they made.
Hope this helps. ---------------------------- JACK.

Ahh, these things. They were a fairly short-lived mid 1970's-on direct import by Deckson; CyberJack has correctly identified the US source.
Deckson sold them as their entry level 'Mowette' [note local spelling] model. They were not a great success in our dealership area [Cobram, Vic] at the time; the lack of a floating cutter deck, and cutting height adjustment, was a distinct disadvantage. The solid tyre wheels didn't help it, either. IIRC we only ever stocked one of these, and it became a 'sell up from' sales floor unit, until some cheapskate actually bought it!
Cheers, Gadge

Look for 'mowett' info on the US forums. These units were not repainted for the Oz market by Deckson, just re-decaled.
