Hello ODK History Lovers

It is long overdue in presenting this 1974 catalogue of Victa mowers.

Context:
After almost two decades, Victa was still innovative. For many, the 1970s Victa range would
signify the greatest period of Victa lawnmowers. For some, it signified their childhood.

What's new for '74? The new Series 70 MK3 engine is standard across the domestic range,
and Victa introduces its new VC Sports machines, in their pumped-up colours.

Alan Moffat makes his first appearance in Victa advertising, again reinforcing the intended
connection between the fast and exciting world of motorsport and ... mowing the grass.

This brochure is divided into three parts, each covering a few pages of the 16 page catalogue
of the mid 1970s Victa range. Enjoy!

VICTA 1974 TV commercial

COMMENT: This is such a clever TV ad. Note how the Senior Citizen Centre setting
is balanced by the youthful scouts using some of the mowers. This is about Victa's
capacity to build community. And doesn't the actor Tony Bonnar (from Skippy) make an
appearance? And doesn't Gordon Chater (Mavis Bramston Show) do likewise?

I love Alan Moffat as the service station attendant. And look at that purpose-built
riding seat for Noel Brophy! I wonder where that is now?

Combine all this with the famous catchy jingle of 'Zip on the doo-dah' and Victa had
money in the bank - green-gold - Texas tea - Milperra money.

I wonder how much Victa paid to modify that Hollywood ditty ? ...
