Hi Tyler hi speedy, I happen to have kept a 1 litre bottle of used transmission fluid after I extracted it to add Lucas transmission additive last year. I might have found a use thanks to this.
Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!
+1 for 50/50 acetone and ATF mix, I bought a mini that had been out in the weather since the 80's engine locked up tight. A little down each plug hole and the 3 hour trip home sloshing around the next morning it was rolling over smoothly. and running the next afternoon.
Same has gone for many rusted bolts. pour on, leave and if its going to undo, it will.
I installed new rear brake pads on the falcon, Undoing the front top nut on the calipers, the socket just slid off. a few times..... Bugger...... hope Boston works...... That Acetone/ATF mix looks good, good to have a litre around . You'd just have to watch the acetone didn't evaporate. But that's easily fixed. It would be extemely usefull with all our old machinery. cheers speedy

I plan on getting one of the cheap SCA oil cans and fill it.
MF, did the lucas help? I have a bit of a rough 1-2 shift in the Camira and am considering adding something like that. Had a reco in 2005, but a flicked up stick splitting a trans cooler line unfortunately lost 1.25L of fluid 2 years ago and half ran it dry.
Its funny, P to R, gears 2-3, 3-2, (2-1 somewhat) are smooth, but the shift from N to D, and the 1-2 shift are harsh
Yup, I definitely have to say it worked a treat. The four speed in the 92 Fairlane V8 was thumping it's changes both up and down intermittently and my mechanic recommended I try adding Lucas. It was an absolute hassle sucking out the old fluid with a large syringe with a tube on the end. I recommend doing it while the tranny is hot so the oil runs easier. I wish I thought of dunking the bottle of Lucas in boiling water prior as it is so thick and hard to squeeze out through a tube. I forget how I ended up doing it but it was quite a hassle. Worth it in the end.

Good one Speedy! I thought he was going to use some of that spray stuff that you got from Bunnings. But he just showed you how to smash the end of an allen key socket onto a seized caliper bolt. Yep that will probably end well...lol
Hi Mowerfreak and Tyler, speaking of rough changing gears. Many years ago I was driving an XC falcon 302 V8 with the "C10" 3 speed auto. I once took my mate and his younger brother for a spin in this old XC. His younger brother was into their VL Commodores with the 6 cylinders back then. Anyway the younger brother who wasn't used to being in an old car like that was like "Wow this thing feels like it has a shift kit installed or something" as the gear changes are pretty rough on those old things..lol. I said "What's that? Shift Kit? Na mate those rough gear changes are standard on this thing"...lol!
Cheers!

Zip a dee doo dah, zip a dee ay, another trash picked Victa, hip hip Hooray!
Supercheap have a set of special sockets that grip rounded nuts....... $40. You bash them on and they grip. Could be usefull in our hobby. I didn't go that way. I saw a video of undoing lower bolt and swinging the caliper up..... Anyway, this is not a Ford forum, but it worked and I installed pads and still have the rounded nut,, all good. speedy
