I have recently bought a new briggs and stratton 3.5hp for my scott bonnar 45. Wondering how to connect a throttle cable to it>?

Good starting point would be to tell what the model and type number are. Some are fixed speed models.

Ok sorry for that. It’s a Briggs Model 083132
550 series horizontal engine

It has throttle adjuster on the motor but not a cable for the mower. Was wondering if it’s possoble to retro fit one on

Hi fatjusto,
Should be pretty easy. Have a look at how it is on other 550 series. There is a hole in the throttle plate and a bolt kole on the cowl side that holds the cable.....Maybe an old one at the tipshop.....

With a couple hundred different type and trims it is a guess but I there is two basic throttle setups. The following image is one of them. The other is a simpler setup. Hope the following makes sense.

Item 1012 mounted where the red arrow indicates. May be or not present. If not it would be needed to be added.

Blue line indicates where the return spring (211) would located. May be present or not. If not it would be needed to be added.

Green line indicates the throttle cable path. Cable clamp and screw may not be present. If not they would be needed to be added.

Orange circle indicates the fiction nut that must be loosen for remote throttle cable use.
