That reminds me of the colt I used to have, it always had an issue with the choke when it was cold. Would run way too rich and maybe also the valve stem seals were a bit worn, but on cold start up it was a bit like a Victa 2 stroke, loud noise smoke plumes etc. It would pretty much smoke down the street a bit like Uncle Buck's movie car..lol. But once it was warm and the choke was off it ran fine...lol

Speaking of serves though, I once was helping on a delivery ute in one of the inner northern suburbs of Melbourne with all these bike lanes now on the left side of the road next to parked cars. Anyway this was my first time on this delivery and pick up run and I was on the passenger side of the ute and I opened the door, a cyclist was coming in the bike lane and stopped near the door, yelled some abuse like "you effin c**t, check for bikes coming before you open ya effin door, effin idiot!, anyway I thought fair enough I was in the wrong and luckily nothing happened to him and he just kept on riding. I didn't fire back as he pretty much just kept riding away, maybe he was late to go get a smashed avo on some rye and a soy latte down the road with some other lycra wearing posse members? lol

Cheers!

They're called MAMIL'S
Middle aged men in lycra.

I live a 24 Hour lifestyle, but every now and again I seem to fall asleep, well at least that's what my wife tells me.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Seems to be a few ex-Colt owners on here...
Since I sold mine i now have heaps of time to work on mowers! (Same thing really except my mowers dont have eight speed gearboxes)
On tailgaters, the best way to stop them tailgating is to do what I do.
Pull over to the left and let them past... Most modern car speedo's are not accurate. They legally can read up to 10% fast, but zero % slower then you are doing.
So you could think you are doing 100kph and you may be doing only 90!
I avoided this in my current car by getting the speedo calibrated. It is amazing how slow most people drive! I can now drive AT the limit (within the envelope of safety) and I simply dont get booked. Its also amazing how many drivers slow down for speed cameras when they are already under the limit. If they slow down "just in case" get your speedo calibrated. Its worth it for peace of mind!

You can use the GPS speedometer built into GPS navigators and note the difference and print out a Dymo label to stick on the dash to remind you how much you can go over the indicated speed.
