Grabbed this over the weekend for $20. Not sure about push mowers, so i didn't mind if i wasted $20

Apologies for the poor quality, night time pic. Definitely not to my normal standards but time is hard to come by at the present and my "to do list" is getting quite long.

In line behind the project, the other ride on's and also the Atco ( It can jump the queue in front of the edger though lol)

Hi Blended

Looks to be the first model of the Corvette series ( 513) from memory, i have one. Bonus it has the catcher and the safety cover on the base. Few bits and pieces missing but what a beaut project.

Cheers

G'day Blended and WCE,

Nice looking classic Victa there mate, you can tell it's age by how much metal is used on this mower and how little plastic there is!

That big metal cowl on this mower has a similar shape to those "Bug Catchers" that are used on top of superchargers. Sort of tough looking.

Cheers!

Hi Blended,
Is that a chip missing near the side discharge?
What is that lever with the little yellow knob for next to the engine?

You did well getting a catcher with it, although metal catchers are not known to crack easily like some plastic ones.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Good Morning all,

Nice and quite a hard to find model there Blended, Mowerfreak the lever is for the choke. The air cleaner is at the front and it has a pre filter and a paper element fitted.

Blended would you please put up a pic of the engine number.

Afternoon Gents!

Thanks all for the replies.

I managed an hour to myself so i gave it a quick hose and had a better look at it (i purchased it unseen and collected it at night time)

There is some, what i would call significant damage to the base that is somewhat hidden by the side attachment. I was surprised to find two more attachments in the catcher that i was not aware were in there. Bonus.

Other than the base damage, it looks to be a solid unit. Everything feels good, compression is present and i feel that its at least 90% complete.

I am unsure on what to do with this given its age and the damage to the base, i may tidy it up, get it running and use it from time to time.

Thoughts/Comments?

Hi Blended, they are a pretty rare machine in any condition. They usually have that damage to the base and mine is worse still, I would tidy it up and get it running. Hang onto it.

Hey Paul, Thanks for the reply!

I had no interest in moving it on, it was always going to stay even if it was just covered up as is and stored.

There's a few pics I've found on here and they all seem to have the same damage.

Am i correct in assuming its a 69?

With missing pieces of the base, patina is the go with occasional use. In the latest Chryslers on the Murray, two Valiants were actually displayed in their as found condition and attracted a lot of interest. The rarity of this machine makes it ideal as a patina exhibit. It has a history for all to see.

Thanks all for the replies.

In need of a starter if anyone has one, closer to Newcastle/Sydney the better!

Thanks!

Hi Blended

You will need the starter drum as well unless you have a spare, have you tried starting it with the pull cord pulley attached ? they work great if everything is in order.

Cheers

Gidday Blended and all,

The engine to me looks as though someone has replaced the lower crankcase with a 1966 case ,the
top half has the front mount air cleaner so that casing is 1963 to 1965 but the lower casing is 1966
and the 1966 Victa 125cc doesn't have a front mount air filter.

My Corvette engine numbers are 1966 ( 666 )
1967 (667 )
1968 (668 )
1969 (669 )
6 at the start is the code for Corvette then the second two digits are the year of build.

Love this
Great job
I have a new utility and I was so close to re painting it but I would be taking away the nos look from it. Can't go past the old original look
