I came home yesterday and the bloke opposite was obviously having problems with his backpack brush cutter/snipper and had been dealing with the problem for a while from the look on his face. It was starting ok but stopping after a few seconds of running. I walked over took off the petrol cap, blew through it and told him to try that. The look on his face when it kept running was priceless, because when I blew through it I could see in his eyes like, what are you doing

That's a good one Norm, if he took it to a mower shop, they would have said it was the spark plug, carby diaphragm, fuel lines and emptied his wallet pretty quickly
Months ago, a neighbour 3 doors down was having problems with his old Shingu line trimmer with a robin 2 stroke engine on it - full throttle, 20 pulls on or off choke made no difference, would not start. I tried choke with no throttle, and it started (and still starts) first pull
That look was priceless as well
I was shocked too

So what did you do Norm, clear the breather? Vacuum in the tank must have been the culprit. Handy to know.
Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

MF I just blew through the petrol cap, obviously it must have been blocked, was a good guess because it would just run for a few seconds and then stop

Got another laugh yesterday. A bloke rang me about a couple of mowers he wants repaired, problem is he has rung me probably 4 times before about getting them repaired over the last, could be 12 months. Anyway I told him I wasn't interested because he had rung me many times before and he would bring them over on Thursday or whatever day it was and I would not hear another word till he rang the next time and go through the same deal, so I just said not interested and hung up. Then he started texting me saying he was sorry and he wasn't well, or his car had broken down or whatever he could think of to make me feel sorry for him I think, not sure. I replied to the first couple but he kept bombing me with them so I had to get my son to block him. If somebody told me they didn't want to fix something for me I would take the hint and walk away

He should have said so earlier. He's obviously a self absorbed PITA. There are a lot of people who think the Milky Way galaxy revolves around them and exploit other's kindness. Good you put a stop to it.
