Dragged this one home this morning from a few houses down the street. So this is obviously the start of this Briggs stuff being dumped that have that carby fitted that drove Speedy nuts a little while ago. One thing about this rubbish is the wheels are always like brand new, never tried using them on anything so far, not sure how they would fare being used on a PT base and it is a bit of work changing all the axle stubs
NK, have you got any pix of your Victa bases with wheel conversions done? I'm sure others would like a look. Have you considered attempting to fix or replace the carby? Did this come with a catcher? That mower looks in good nick. Might be worth fixing. It's several steps up from a Lawn Beetle -except the motor.
Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!
It has a catcher MF, but I would prefer a Lawn Beetle any day. As for doing the axle swaps that is a result of welding and doing this sort of work for over 50 years, just not something you can show in a few pics. I will make up a couple of sets of Victa axles with non Victa wheels on them because I know you like seeing pics.
I had a Sprinter. Just cleaned the fuel lines carb and it was a goer..... Check it out first. A lot of good engineering went into that little sick puppy... speedy

I have the previous model Sprinter with the flat head chinese made 450 Briggs on it. The bloke down the road was putting it out on the curb. He said it wouldnt start - turned out the throttle cable mount had loosened and it was permanently in the off position. Moving the throttle on the engine, it started second go. He paid $199 for it in 2012, and said he didn't want it now as he just went and bought a $199 Chonda engined Yardking at bunnings (some people never learn).
Anyway, for one reason or another, the front right wheel wouldn't quite touch the ground. The deck was so thin, that I was able to brace the mower on 3 bricks and bend the front right back down by pushing on it.
After being insulted with 2 offers of $25 and $30 for it, I decided to keep it, but not before I told the guys (of certain european descent) where they could put there money.

Hey Tyler!
I've found there are two types that purchase these kind of mowers.
First type mow there courtyards and duplex grass areas with them, wash them down after use and store them until next time. Having no issues and getting value for money.
Second type buy these and expect them to mow a 1/4 acre of ankle high grass weekly with the adding of fuel being there "regular maintenance"
My father buys/sells/repairs and services mowers for a living and he sells these in no time at all with minimal fuss and problems.
Hi Blended I have found the same thing - this guy actually looked after his reasonably well - it was relatively clean, air filter good and oil full and not disgusting.
I don't know why, but I always seem to end up with idiots trying to lowball, which is why a lot of stuff ends up staying in the shed. At least the mowers cost me next to nothing most of the time.
I have had quite a few Sprinters over the time, several just hunt on the governor, I haven't tried a heavy blade carrier to see if this helps, might get around to trying this idea one day. If I get one that runs ok I just pull the motor off and fit it on a mower that has a decent catcher
