As often happens here in Mackay an egg farmer takes all the catchers for his chickens to nest in, leaving us mower guys to fight over the remains. I have a Rover 5.5 Intek engined "Professional 45" mower without a catcher and I was thinking about a victa flap and catcher for it. I have fitted victa flaps to other models but this one has a ridge along the back ( you can see it in the photo) so I don't think it will work on this model. Has anybody done this? Any ideas?

Sorry sparker I don't think you have many options there, I have tried so many ways to get around the catcher problems and I have a lot of catchers here to try around with. Problem with the Victa catcher is shorter on the sides so there are big gaps on each side at the top. I will have a play around today and see if I can come up with

Hi sparker, I have had a look at it again and it is just too hard to make a Victa catcher fit, they sort of fit but the gaps are too big and the catcher will probably just bounce off. My only suggestion would be to take a Victa catcher to the chicken farmer and ask him if he would swap the Victa one for a Rover one, chickens won't care, even if the front lip on the Victa is a bit mangled

I agree that the chickens don't care what catcher they lay in. I would like to know where that farmer lives and do just that. He/She must have an enormous number of catchers because this happens about twice a year I think. Maybe more than one farmer doing it as word gets around about how great catchers are for this purpose. They're oblivious to the dogfights the rest of us mower guys get into over the remaing ones, lol.
I might even take a trip to Sarina, about 30k away, and see what's at their tip. That particular catcher for the Rover 45 seems a bit rare. I have bought a couple of rover catchers thinking that's the one for it but they don't fit it.

I have had a few of those Rovers with the ears on the base near where the handles mount and I found that pretty much any Rover catcher I had fitted. I have a few catchers here but would be cost prohibitive to ship
Sparker if you got really desperate you could probably fit a Victa catcher to it by riveting a strip of steel across the back of the mower vertically and mount the Victa flap and hinges onto that. The strip of steel would need to be at least 10mm thick to stop it flexing. Paint it black the same as the flap and nobody will care as long as the catcher stays in place.

Sparker, I had another look at it on a base that is missing the rear flap and the Victa catcher will fit on there with a minimal amount of work, just a strip of metal to mount the hinges and spring to.
