Did you get the rings off without breaking them? That can be a mission, file the edges ,use wd spray, riggle them, hit them......... speedy

Speedy, when you talk about getting these scored bores running again, how much of the scoring do you remove and are you fitting O/S rings? What tool are you honing them with? I can remove light scoring with my hone but it takes a while and then I start to worry about how true the bore is

Hi Norm, I just remove the rough edges with sandpaper on a round tool. I run a round file over the piston to get big lugs off...... I have swapped really thin rings for thicker ones, all way out of specs..... But some of them go and mow lawns............. I'm not spending $40 and getting it running much better and selling it for $50............ I put new O-rings and gaskets and carb parts .......... refile points, blow clean airfilters Mine is a home bush workshop....... not a trade shop. We don't have kerbside cleanups up here................ cheers speedy

Hi Speedy, I know what you mean, mine is a hopefully, cost neutral hobby, I'm never really sure, I keep having to buy parts in anticipation that I can find mowers to use the bits on and I know I spend too much time on many of them just to get them to a stage I won't have problems with them. I do have a number of PT motors that only need a hone and a new set of rings, but I probably have at least 35 PT's that have been straight fueled, I will probably never get around to attempting to fix those. Straight fueled F/C's I usually have enough good barrels and pistons to fix some of those, but eventually they will all dry up
