I Have the opportunity to acquire a rover rancher 28189/198 Model no 3784821 can someone confirm the deck size on one of these is 38 inch cut. It is currently fitted with a 16 hp vanguard (briggs and stratton) motor which needs replacement. will a briggs and stratton fit straight in or woul significant modifications be needed. the deck and the drive are in excellent order

Looks like it is a 16hp 38 inch cut auto drive. We have recently established that at least up to 18hp, could be higher, the Briggs bolt pattern remains the same

The only thing might the wiring setup as that depends how each engine is setup. Just minor changes most times.

They all seem to be about the same length of 80mm What sort of money is the Intech. I thought it was the Intech motor that LRT was having problems with low use ones wearing the bores oval. Not sure I could be wrong.

Can pick up an intech 15.5 for less than 900 excluding freight. Also I have been told by my mower mechanic to be careful re wiring how compatible are the vanguard and intech wiring and what mods if any are required

Only need to connect the alternator wire to charge the battery and you need to connect the starter wire from the solonoid to the starter motor
