Hi guys, I have a Stihl 010 AV that has a stripped spark plug thread, just wondering if anyone has used a "PermaPlug Spark Plug Thread Repair Kit"?. Like this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-PermaPlug-1...QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262If they work ok, it would be cheaper than trying to find another barrel. gmax

Hi gmax and drjbeam, I haven't seen one personally, but have heard that they are used extensively in the States.....I would use a heli-coil....but,if this gadget uses similiar technology, what a time saver....at the price I reckon it'd be worth a try!!

Hi Darryl, heli-coils look like coils of wire, the "PermaPlug Spark Plug Thread Repair Kit" is a solid metal insert, i think it would be stronger. I never have much luck with Stihl chainsaws, all i did was remove the spark plug, the thread came out with it! Oh well I'll fix it then sell it. gmax

Hi gmax, I agree that the "Perma-Plug" looks stronger, please let us know how you go with it....there are probably many "Stihl" owners out there that may have the same prob at some stage!!

I installed the "Perma-Plug" yesterday, very easy to do, I tried the chainsaw today it runs fine. So if you have a stripped spark plug thread I recommend these kits. gmax
