I bought a Mcculloch Eager Beaver 2.0 Cid Chainsaw from a pawnshop. The saw ran fine for a short while, but then stopped working. Subsequent attempts to restart are futile. The carb seems to be loading up & I notice excessive fuel at the exhaust. It also drowns the spark. I have taken apart & thoroughly cleaned the whole thing, then its starts again, runs for a minute or two & then stops accelerating & shuts off. If anybody knows how to correct this problem please let me know. My e-mail is colon2134@cs.com

Stop choking it will help. The only way to get that much gas out of the exhaust is to flood it out. You might want to switch out plug also. The other thing that might be happening is that it has no spark resulting in flooding. If that is the case toss the saw. It isnt a good enough saw to put money into.

I had a similar problem on a Mac Timberbear that Bruce helped me out on - put a new kit in the carb and it would run fine for a few minutes then flood out. Only thing to make it run again was to take the carb off, clean, and it would run again for a few minutes. What worked for me was to clean the needle seat with a toothpick (or sharpen a match stick)and a very small amount of fine valve lapping compound as there was a small amount of trash or buildup on the needle seat causing the carb to flood the engine. Make sure to clean the needle seat out with some carb cleaner after using the lapping compound.
