my ol' yella is going to a new home with a new job,it will be used for moving vintage aircraft around, i have kept the deck/clutch and some other stuff that he doesn't want.here's some pic's of it undressed!
Hi gml, is that the one I repaired the rear wheel for, if so I hope the vintage aircraft they want to drag around doesn't include old B52 bombers I hadn't factored that into the repair
A very fitting job for her! And it's good to see them in active use.
Is it going to support a museum collection?
The drive is well suited to use as an aircraft tug as the clutch allows a very gentle action- which is what is needed. Perhaps a lower gearing ratio would be ideal to improve torque and slow the forward speed. Not sure how you'd do that easily though. Only way is to try it out.
Are they small aircraft? I ask because one of the other problems with adapting OPE to this kind of application is weight. The adapted mowers aren't heavy enough. One solution is to sling weight from the deck mountings.
Does this mean you're in the market for another project? If so I might be selling
g'day Norm yep that's the one.haaha it will be fine you did a great job on the wheel mate,it was only doing an hour's work a year shame to see it just sit there,i cant sell the red one the daughter has claimed it "when i ride on ahead" but i am downsizing for the moment two of my cars are gone also, cheer's mate...g'day Paul small plane i think i will know more when he arrive's mid week, not sure what i am going to do,i will keep you in mind ol mate
Off the cuff I thought that was an RV6A but old yella looks a bit small against it. A closer look and that's RV8 on the tail? Nice machine if that's your cup of tea.
Either way old yella should do the job quite nicely, I think.
not sure mate, nice bloke tho he has a few planes (and a few cars) he wants to pull planes down to the bowser and move them around he's really happy with the greeny and i'm happy it's got a good home
As long as Old Yella is happy being a tug these days then we all should be happy. There is a plane parked at the top of our crt, not sure what it is but it looks home made and is parked on a trailer. I can post a pic if anybody is interested, too dark outside at the moment.
