I have recently acquired a rover super 4 self propelled mower with a 5 hp briggs and stratton motor. I am wondering how I can identify the age of the motor (motor is newer than the rest of the mower) and i was also wondering if owners manuals were still available for both the mower itself and the engine and where i could obtain them from. I also believe that the mower would be about a 1969 or 1970 model

coolrussy,

If you are after the manual for the Rover frame the ID plate is usually on a plate or sticker on the frame once we have that we can upload to the parts list and manuals area.

If you after information on the the engine for spare parts then CLICK HERE but if you are after a workshop manual we have a general one in the parts list and manuals area. cheers2

coolrussy,

The motor was made in 1986 as to the frame I will have to see if I can locate the manual and that could take about a week. cheers2

Hi Bruce,
Thank you for your reply, how are you getting on with that info on the frame age? Thank you for you help on the identification for the engine age. What size motor did this particular rover come out with when it was new

Hi Bruce,
Would you be able to tell me much a set of drive dogs would be worth and if they are hard to get. How are you getting on with finding the info on the age of the frame?

hi bruce,

coolrussy,

The drive dogs are two different threads, so look at which way the dog is driving the wheel and uou will have to undo them in the same direction as they are driving otherwise you will be trying to tighten them up.

I have just uploaded parts list for the self Propelled side catcher models to the parts list and manuels area.cheers2
