I came across this on Google street view and had the opportunity to take a look for myself. This is a disused petrol station and this massive(!!) pile of decrepit mowers fills the forecourt, including the inside of the shop itself.
There is apparently a mower repair business in the back of this old petrol station and it looks like this pile has grown since the street view shot was taken, so I presume they have been deliberately accumulated here.
I was sorely tempted to load a couple of nice easily accessible alloy deck Victas and a couple of thumb latch catchers I spotted as well, but was afraid of being accosted by the business owner in this extremely "multicultural" part of Sydney. There are no "keep out" signs but as a "decommissioned" petrol station, it is technically private property and I don't want to get in hot water by helping myself. There was even a red VC sports with two layers of machines on top and the white engine cover was damaged as a result. What a pity.
What should I do? I am almost as afraid what the person responsible for this pile will want for the gems I want to take!!
Help meeeee. bigshock

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

So you're saying they are basically openly accessible to the public with no fence or gate around the perimeter of the property ?

And I thought vccom had a couple of mowers around the place.

That's right. On my first pass I could have driven in the first lane nearest the footpath but there was a car parked in there the next time I went past a day later. The closest thing to a fence is a two metre section of old ARC metal fencing leaning against one part of the sea of mowers parallel to the bowsers.

I'm surprised that many of them simply don't just walk away at night time ??? as they always say if it's not bolted down it walks.

BTW I'm not suggesting for one moment that anyone here should nick them, but just that I find it odd in today's day and age that anything is left open like that to temptation.

Cheers,
BB.

Yes it's very strange. There must be some code they live by there lol.

They walk very quickly I have noticed down here at the scrap metal yards. Usually 15-20 minutes!

There are a lot of houses with windows overlooking the site, including a cottage toward the back of the site itself! Barking dogs being heard in other properties as I got out of the car doesn't instill confidence in pulling up at night to try and wheel them out one at a time without making noise, like some sort of burglar, in an area I am not familiar with. eek

I'd almost make a bet that there is a camera somewhere.....Make the relevant inquiries guys, try and find out who owns them, and make a bid....don't even think about acquiring any of them without negotiation, you would only end up in hot water, and is a disused mower worth the hassle wink
Kind regards,
cheers
Darryl

Certainly wouldn't hurt to ask somebody there, even if you paid up to $10 each for some. I picked up a job lot of 40 a little while ago and I paid $150 for the lot. Sure some were rubbish, but I got my money back quickly and the rest is a bonus
