This looks like its from the 79cc Villiers Midget and from the aussie made version on the AV Everyman mowers. There is posts on this forum covering the two models of the Midget
Again, much confusion about this. The Villiers Midget was a 98cc engine.
This engine is the smaller Atco-Villiers, developed because of some 'special relationship' between Villiers - who started engine production and the 1910s, and Atco, who started making lawnmowers in the 1920s.
This association resulted - post WWII - in an Atco-Villiers engine.
These engines did make their way to power Australian Austral-Villiers. It is unknown what enable this. The evidence - from the Powerhouse Museum - is that there was some commercial arrangement between Atco and AV. Who knows?
But, they should not be referred to as Villiers Midgets. To my knowledge, the Midgets were all 98cc - in Mk1 to Mk 4 guises.
It may be that 'midget' has come to refer to any generic small Villiers' engine. This makes it more important to distinguish them... - Villiers Midget; - Atco-Villiers Midget.
Similar designs - different cc capacities.
Any clarification welcome. ------------------------------------------- Jack
yep i think you are correct about that Cyberjack, but if Ken W is after parts for it then doesn,t really matter to him what other people are calling it as long as he can source his bits needed. i have one of those 79cc versions also (one of my all time favorite little engines) And exactly what model it was has always confused me as i also own a mk2 and 3. now that ive seen your pic of the proper mk1 villiers (not atco) it makes more sense. i think maybe atco 79cc should've been named differently?
So when you see them displayed all together like that on that site it is confusing. I was only trying to help Ken W source his bits n bobs. i did buy some parts from them years ago.
If my collection is complete ( then how come i keep buying stuff ? ) 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
