4-stroke engines that powered AUS rotary lawnmowers started to appear in 1959.
It is fair to say that the 1960s consolidated their use on all types of lawnmowers.
Local production seems to have been limited to the great manufacturer,
James N Kirby.
Kirbys made many licensed American Tecumseh models, the most popular being the VK engines.
