Mmmmm, Top quality piece of journalism there! Reminds me why I get all my news from the ABC! Commercial journalism is suffering badly in this electronic age. Perhaps a very large part of the problem is this race to the bottom quality wise.
Home support is a normal part of what is offered to parents and carers of high level needs patients. It's nothing new and is NEEDED by these people. High level care can take ALL the carers time and home care support is a blessed relief to those who genuinely need it. This applies not only to parents of needs kids but also carers for the elderly and the like
Think about it this way, the taxpayer is being asked to support the carers with home support to enable the patient stay at home. The alternative is for the patient to be in full time institutional care. Imagine what that would cost! A bit of home support is not too much to ask.
No, I'm not a carer myself and don't have special needs kids but I know people who do.

Sorry prd if you get all your news from the ABC no wonder you don't realise that they have changed the level at which parents now qualify for NDIS support. No longer need to be officially a carer or on a disability pension. If your child is "developmentally delayed" which used to require actual medical proof then you qualify. Thanks to S.A. insisting on lowering the bar now if your child is just lagging behind at school you qualify for support. The Turnbull government applied S.A.'s lax requirement nationally and the scheme is now absolutely rife for scam artists. Please, take the time to check source other than Their ABC, you might find a whole new world waiting for you.

Hi Trev, any info as to how I can apply for some of this gravy, I'm always looking for a scam, just don't want to be the one on the wrong end of a scam, I'm after the pointy end

Fair enough Trev, I'm not full bottle on the thresholds and trigger levels for support or the extent to which they might have changed. But that kinda reinforces the point I was making about quality of reporting. The article from the Daily Telegraph made no effort to explain any of the details behind the discussion, instead it went straight to the histrionics. I'd read a proper article on the subject with interest, and a proper online debate based on proper reporting would be useful.
True, getting all my news from one source is less than ideal but the poor quality and trashy subject matter from other outlets (print, free-to-air, and electronic) is intolerable.

Hello all autistic contributors. I feel I lagged behind at school. I did everything s l o w l y. Yes, that image is of my slide (with no acknowledgement):- It was probably acquired from pintirest (who did acknowledge its source) https://au.pinterest.com/pin/309411436877047676/My original masterpiece can be found here:- https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=51887Many thanks to Gadge for pointing this out to me. I find, increasingly, that my research is used on auction site - without acknowledgment. It's nice to get some acknowledgement. Cheers------------------- Jack
