I've got the chassis for a Flymo, big rusted out heap but it does have four good tyres if your mate ever needs any.

G'day gml and aussietrev

It is amazing that the Flymo was patented before man set foot on the moon!
The earliest ad I have [AUS] dates from late 1968.

I'm glad collectors are interested in these 'magic' machines.
My understanding is that they were, initially, 2-stroke powered.
Electric machine would follow...

Bought one of those electric ones new, not too flash and was even worse after my wife used it and left it outside to get wet, never worked again, and I thought oh well at least I can keep the extension lead, till I cut the end off and found it was only 2 core, so the lot went in the bin

G'day gml
You're right there.

The original Flymo colours were blue base and white engines (or electric covers).
The oranges bases first appeared in, I think, the late 1970s, maybe early 1980s.

Hello all,We had and orange coloured Flymo(2 stroke) at golf course in the around 1986.It was used only on very steep banks that you couldn't walk on.We stood at the top with ropes attatched, walking back and forth dropping the ropes a mower width at a time. The Fymo worked very well in this situation

I've never seen one of them. I came across a YouTube clip from the UK with a four stroke version.
Trust the Swedes to be ahead of their time again.

There was also a leccy version sold here, and it was heavier than the 2-stroke one. Remember demo-ing a leccy one back in the 1970's.

It was so hard to move, that we didn't order another one.

Cheers,
Gadge

I grew up seeing the electric ones but have never seen a petrol one operate with my own eyes.
Nice looking 2 stroke engine it has.
I used an electric one once and the ch
ord killed it for me.
