I have been asked to fix a Victa 2-stroke run without pre-mix - eg on straight unleaded. I believe it may have siezed, but has freed up, has compression and spark. I haven't looked at it yet, but I suspect that if it has both these, it is a fuel or crankcase seal problem. Any suggestions before I attack it would be greatly appreciated! I think it is around 5-10 years old, if that is any help.

trainlover, I would be removing the exhaust first to see what damage the straight fuel has caused. If you have scoring on the piston then you will need to replace the piston, 'O'rings, rings, bearings and have the cylinder rebored.

Thanks Bruce,
Will start there. Gut feeling is that if all that needs to be done might be better to purchase a new one!

Hi Bruce,
Are the O-rings you mention made of Viton? I believe overheated viton can turn into a nasty goo that can cause real health problems, and given the overheating, would like to be aware if I might find this.

trainlover, You should not have any issues with the 'O' rings as I have never come across one that melt.
