Picked up a Victa VC300, petrol obvious leaking onto the base. Replaced the primer cap and associated oring. Runs fine however when you turn the fuel tap off, the mower doesn't stop running after a few seconds as it normally does with a Powertorque. The throttle control works fine and the mower turns off when using it. So what's at fault here? Btw this is a Mark 1, the one without a decompressor.

Doesn't sound like much of a problem, either it takes longer to burn the fuel in the carby or the fuel tap is not stopping fuel flow to the carby.

Sounds like it might have the original white plastic fuel tap and it has finally given up the ghost.
Does it have the wind up starter with green plastic grate surround, or has someone fitted a zip starter which is quite common with these?
I haven't heard of the VC "300" btw.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Thanks Ted and MF. I timed it tonight and it takes just over a minute to shut down from the time the fuel tap is shut. The other powertorque takes 15 to 20 secs. No big deal but maybe this indicates needle is letting too much fuel through?
