Hi all,

The colour red used on the department store Victa's, is their a colour code number or name for the red used on them.
This will be my next project soon so any input on this particular mower will be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Steve.

Hello tyro185

That is a good question...

Little is known about these 'red' Specials.
This was a 'secret' Victa deal, and maybe just for one large store.
Some have referred to them as an 'Export Model' - but that makes no sense.

Perhaps a member might be able to offer advice.

Thank you CyberJack,

I guess if nobody has information on this, it will be a matter of what colour red appeals to the restorer, many thanks again.

Steve.

Hi Steve

Please let us know what you decide on.
I do feel that remaining paint on the machine will have faded,
but I am convinced Victa did a reasonable job at priming their bases.

Any advice to other members would be welcome.

There is some evidence there was a green version too ...

Hello Jack,

Thanks for the upload on the Dept. Store Victa's, Paul's example of this model looks very nicely restored. I'm assuming the red was not a hammertone paint of any kind an may explain the extra time needed in priming these plates when using a solid red colour.

Green models of this type I didn't know about and finding evidence of this being the case is excellent news, would you know if it was hammertone green like the others or just a solid green.

Thanks for your time in my response.

Steve.

The sad thing is it won't be cutting a lawn again, lest you ruin the pristine finish.
Lawn mowing is inherently hard on a machine's finish, unless you are mowing a flat healthy area of lawn and you are prepared to thoroughly hand clean the machine afterwards.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!
