What you have there is a Model 33 which was the precursor to the Model 45 so this makes it a 1960's issue as it's not the Lawn King variety. The Model 33 was a 16 inch wide cut machine. This one no longer has its original engine as its been replaced with a 1979 Briggs and Stratton 3 Hp engine.

Thanks for the info was told it was a bit later of a model but good news none the less fits in well with the other mowers in my collection. What motor would have been on originally wouldn't mind getting it back to how it would have been new.
Victa Utility 509 in line for resto. Scott bonnar model 33 already in pieces. Atco reel mower unknown model is 4 stroke
I believe the original engine would have been a Kirby 4-stroke.
Having said that, Briggs may be the best option, as the machine was not modified when it was re-powered (it may be restored at any point). I understand restoration is a personal thing though.
I dare say I'll stick with the Briggs for now can always swap it out at a later date if I trip of something more suitable. Managed to get it running briefly today before I pull it down gave up when the rope broke. Got it 98% only missing a belt any idea where I could find out which size I'd need ?

Sadly this is quite common on both model 33's and 45's due to lack of chain adjustment and also running over concrete edges which in turn will bend the chain case upwards thus reducing the clearance between the the cutter chain and the chain case..
This one will have to have a new piece welded into place and metal finished.

Hello Captrusty and Bonnar Bloke I have recently had to replace the belt on my 33 as it was almost worn through. I took my belt into a place called Gardener bearings who was able to match it up with a replacement (SKF A31) It was a tight fit on the mower but it seems to work alright. I hope that this helps.
