Hello to all the Scott Bonnar Restorers out there,
Over the past few years the topic of "Correct" Reel Adjustment has come up time and time again.
In one of the ODK video's it explains a method of how the end result should be and technically it is incorrect. Rest assured we are now showing the correct end result which is what we call "the contact method" and it is exactly as Scott Bonnar intended it to be if you read their Owners Manual, which is also available to read on this site.
Below is a video I took of my 20 inch Model 45 after it has had a new bed knife fitted and ground, along with the reel also ground at the same time. The sound of the reel just touching the bed knife all the way along the blade is quite evident and this is exactly how it should sound with the correct adjustment done. If a thicker bed knife is used then the sound will slightly duller without as much of a ring to it.
The grinding work was done by Adelaide's leading Cylinder Cut grinding specialist "Steven Rose" of "Australian Blades and Saws" which are located on Research Road Pooraka in Adelaide's Northern area. Steve does nearly all of Adelaide's Bowling Greens Mower work, most Lawn Mower shops contract sharpening and even some work from Interstate.
The Reel was set up by myself. This video is fully endorsed by Steven Rose, The ODK and lastly myself.
Cheers,
BB.
PS. Currently there is no video attached, it will be added shortly and there will be no comments added to this as it's basically going to be a tutorial in a locked thread.
