Hello ODK History Lovers
The Mobilco Heavycut was a slasher type mower made by Mobilco Industries, and it
dates from the early 1960s. It sold widely and for decades - and
it represents the evolvement of the industrial (larger) rotary lawnmower in this
country.

This was one of our earliest 'slasher-type' mowers, and it would have replaced the
older, powered sickle mower designs prevalent in the early post WWII years. The
rotary revolution - in Australia - is a most interesting story ... but, post WWII,
the first rotaries that appeared were of British origin and intended for acreage.
The Heavycut seems to have copied British designs and American designs to produce
an all-Australian product- a rugged 'big wheel' design for the larger acreages.

PART TWO - New Product Documents - c1963
It was a lucky find in 2020 when I acquired what I believe
to be the original documents sent by Mobilco to its dealer
network for the release of their Heavycut. These were
probably sent to them in the second half of 1963.

There was a flyer [one-sided brochure]; a price list, payment
and state agents’ list; an order form and a small pre-paid
return envelope.

Note that the first Heavycuts could be purchased with
Wisconsin or Tecumseh engines. The Heavycut could
also be purchased engine-less.
