My father bought this mower at a guess about 25 years ago and he did use it for a few years but then the property got too hard for him to mow because it was fairly steep. My son has been using it for a few years but the self propelled has stopped. I believe it is a belt drive and I think the only way I'm going be able to see what happens under there is to turn it upside down. Does anybody know anything about these machines, they look a very rugged piece of kit. I haven't checked the size of the cut but it looks probably about 24 inch

So this one seems to have drawn a blank, my old man always had the ability to buy odd ball machines that nobody knew anything about. laugh but it does seem to be a reasonably robust machine

These Ariens machines were brought in by Allpower Industries, who are the Ariens distributor these days [and are also owned by Ariens; on the local market, Bynorm is owned by Ariens].

Worth trying them first for info.

Thanks Gadge, from memory Ariens and Bynorm had factories up in Hallam, I will see if they can help, I need a gearshift lockout switch for the Ariens ride on anyway

More likely 21". I rarely see any thing over 22" in the self propel mowers; unless, it is a commercial unit. If it is like others here you need to remove the rear baffle to get to the belt. Can be fun (not easy) to remove too. These v-belts are usually a 3/8" (3L). Also you could have a broken drive cable.

What is the model number? I can probably check here for the belt size.

AVB right again, it is only a 21 inch, it looked bigger. The model number is 911045 and the drive belt is missing

The v-belt is a clogged 3/8" x 32-3/8". Ariens PN 07217100 (Stens 265-995, Husqvarna 606000226)

Note there three slight different versions of this mower according to the serial number breaks. Other parts maybe different so you need the serial for other parts.
