Ok so first time poster great forum so far, so my question is in the photo my old shaft has a step that the blade sits on and it is flogged out towards the thread so when the cup washed is fitted the blade floats around. I know that I need a new one but all the pics I have seen show the shaft not being stepped, or am I just seeing the wrong pics. Oh and it's a series 90. thanks in advance Colin [img][/img]

I'd suspect that the smaller 'step' is a wear artefact due to the loose blade, not an original feature of the part. There should be cup washers on both sides of the blade, when installed correctly. They're No. 34 in this diagram from the IPL: This shaft is correct for both full crank and PowerTorque engined TAC's. https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/edgers/...genuine-victa-tilta-cut-spindle-me63216a

It seems that the lip is exactly right for the width of the blade(too good to be an accident?) and that the bearing fits snug as well the gap from the lip to the thread also seems longer than the others that I have seen online, maybe looking at the wrong one but have seen no other? So what you are telling me is that there is only one type of shaft for the tac regardless of year make. thanks Col

So what you are telling me is that there is only one type of shaft for the tac regardless of year make. Yes. I've checked the parts lists for both, and the part number is the same.

And this image should clear up your question about if it is stepped or not.
