Hi all
I have a question in regards to dethaching my farther in law always mows with out a catcher . He said it is the best for the turf
Would you recommend I dethach his lawn when he goes on holidays next time ? Or would it be ok to leave he has buffalo grass
Thank you

I'm not an expert, but I believe a different approach is required with Buffalo grass. Couch and kyku grasses have a deeper root system and propagate and spread by the roots spreading under ground and then surfacing. Buffalo spreads by going over ground. I believe that when you dethatcher buffalo you need to be careful with your depth because if you go too deep you can ruin the grass as it doesn't recover as quickly as couch and kykuyu. I may be incorrect in my thoughts , does anyone else have an opinion or knowledge.
